Sometimes you wake up at 3:30am from a bad dream in which someone is trying to bring you down. Emotionally. Professionally.
You think of all the things you could have said. That you should have said. You run the argument through your head again and again.
You defend yourself. You attack. You retreat. You attempt diplomacy. You attempt to figure out how to be the better person while harbouring no bull shit.
After awhile it sinks in that it wasn't real. It didn't happen. It's not going to happen.
You're just tilting at windmills in the middle of the night. And so you roll over, huddle under the blankets, and take deep breaths as you slowly fall asleep and prepare for another day.
